01. Members

The general membership forms the foundation of the Network, consisting of civil society organizations, individuals, and other stakeholders committed to climate action in Zambia.

02. Board of Directors

Elected by the members, the Board provides oversight, governance, and strategic leadership to the organization. It ensures alignment with the organization’s mission and policies.

03. The National Coordinator

serves as the chief executive officer of the Network, responsible for overall coordination, execution of Board decisions, and day-to-day leadership of the organization.

04. Management Team

Comprising heads of departments or units, the Management Team supports the National Coordinator in planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmers and operations.

Who We Are

The Zambia Climate Change Network (ZCCN) is a membership – based Organization that exists as a civil society National platform whose strategic thrust is on climate/ environmental justice and the realization of sustainable development in Zambia. The Network was established in 2008 and got registered with the Registrar of Societies on 28th February 2011 and currently has its secretariat at Mulungushi International Conference Center, New Wing in Lusaka.

The Main Objective of ZCCN is “To mobilize civil society organizations and individuals advancing similar agendas on climate change related issues in order to undertake affirmative action.” Our Vision is “A Zambia resilient to the adverse impacts of climate change” and our Mission is “To coordinate civil society organizations’ engagement on climate change issues through capacity building, information sharing, lobby and advocacy”. To achieve the above, ZCCN works through its members with support from collaborating partners.

Membership-based Organization

ZCCN is a membership-based organization that is voluntary and non-partisan with full legal status. The Network currently associates with over 40 organizations across the country. Membership is open to civil society organizations, faith/ community-based organizations, individuals, academic institutions, and corporate bodies that subscribe to the ideals of the network.

At national level, the Network has been identified as an important stakeholder by the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) within the core structure of the climate change policy processes as it is part of the Technical Committee that is a third highest level. The organization therefore takes an active role in undertaking mobilization, awareness, capacity building/ education and advocacy programs.
The ZCCN programs are focused on the following key thematic areas, Energy, Health, Water and Sanitation, Land Use and Management, Food Security and Livelihoods as well as Gender.

Priority Areas

Our priority areas are Institutional and Governance Strengthening, Communication and Information Sharing, Policy Influence and Stakeholder Engagement, and Capacity Building for Community Resilience. The Network serves as a platform for policy dialogue, providing space and scope for debate for members as well as communities that members serve in policy processes such as the development of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), the National Climate Change Policy, The National Climate Change Communication and Advocacy Strategy, the National Climate Change Learning Strategy and recently the Green Growth Strategy and the Climate Change Act. Under the UNFCCC COP processes ZCCN has been coordinating the development of the CSO position paper and local CSOs participation. ZCCN has worked with various partners among them, SNV, ActionAid Zambia (AAZ), WWF Zambia, IUCN, USAID’s International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP), SIDA through the Pan-African Climate Justice Movement (PACJA) and the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA as well as the Southern African Trust (SAT) and We Effect
